Team Unite & Universal Pictures Invite Fortnite Players to Escape Paradise
Use your wits to escape from paradise in a chilling Fortnite Creative experience inspired by M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, in theaters July 23.

To celebrate the release of M. Night Shyamalan’s latest blockbuster movie, Team Unite has worked in collaboration with Universal Pictures to create a Fortnite Creative game based on OLD. Named Escape Paradise, the experience is a perfectly blended mix of horror, survival and puzzle-solving. Players must escape the film’s iconic beach in an intense race against the clock.
As you wash onto a mysterious shore, you’ll quickly discover that this is no paradise. Just like OLD, Escape Paradise is designed around the concept of time. As it progresses, players will feel themselves beginning to age, becoming slower and weaker. In order to survive, they must discover clues, gather resources, and craft tools before the clock runs out.
Escape Paradise includes a variety of features and challenges to guide players in their objective. To escape the beach, you can find starter tools such as an axe or a knife. Use these to gather resources like wood and coal as you explore the hidden layers and secrets that Paradise has to offer.
Players must use quick thinking and crafting if they want to survive. As they get older, and slower, the pressure begins to set in, and with each challenge comes a new solution. For those dedicated enough to Escape Paradise multiple times, users can see a real-time clock on their screen and use it to beat a previous record, or panic once it reaches 30 minutes.
The map was made in anticipation of the film’s release on July 23, 2021. As a result, sponsored streamers have played Escape Paradise, sharing our survival experience to hundreds of thousands of viewers.
Our map challenged high-profile creators such as CouRageJD, benjyfishy, and SypherPK to escape the beach as quickly as possible, inviting their audience to attempt to beat their time. Escape Paradise has also been directly promoted by Universal Pictures and was part of the OLD marketing campaign.
